A lot of protein has been processed here lately with butchering pigs, the beef coming back and our first batch of chickens going off to the poultry abattoir. We have been busy chopping, packing, labelling and boxing up. Delivering, meeting and handing over produce as well as the everyday jobs of farm life takes up a lot of time. The veggie patch has been forgotten and housework neglected (apart from the Saturday mad clean at change over time of the gites).
It was felt that we needed to slow down a little so yesterday and today we did just that. The animals were feed and checked, jobs that had to be done were but that was it. We took it slow, went mushroom hunting (didn't find many). Had a snooze after lunch and I played around in my sewing room.
Today, after an appointment in town with our insurance agent which took a bit of time as the computer kept on saying NO (we both thought of that little Britain sketch) we had a 17 € meal at the best restaurant in town, Cote Saveurs , delicious. A needed shop for food before picking up miss F at the train station followed by being let to browse around Emause I managed to find some vintage off cuts of material to add to my growing collection - really need to start doing something with that stash. It made for a change of pace which was good.
Even Saturday, that mad turn around day is going to be calmer with one gite to clean and no meals being cooked were off to a soiree, how French. I will make canapes to take, as were walking a glass or two may be drunk, which may in turn help my French to flow (or not).
