wet, wet, wet

It's nearly the end of May. It rained today, a lot, its rained a lot for what seems a long time. (apart from Sunday and Monday) It's wet and damp and cold and Farmer J lite a fire!  was cold as he sat by the PC working or maybe he lit it for Franklin. His unwell and depressed and out of salts (off to V    E    T   tomorrow i think).

It was a Stay indoors morning so while ironing I  blocked my 80 squares by pinning them to the board and hovering a steam iron over them. This is to make the squares flat and ready to crochet together Supposedly (will soon find out if it works or not as I hope to of finished it by the weekend)

I should of been in the veggie patch, it's not looking good. The tomatoes are not a normal tomato plant colour.

The strawberry plants are just starting to get fruit, imagine the slugs will have their eyes on them if it stays so wet, that's if they ever ripen..

The rain run down off the top of the plateau through our farm on it's way down to the river.

It's getting to the irises that have just come out, some of them are bending over.

Some slept all day, but I had the opportunity to do some DIY . Do it yourself as no one's going to help me put together my shelving for my special space. I'm taking over Miss F's room for my ever expanding collection of wool and material, a craft room of sorts.

Farmer J went to fiddle with oil filters, Master C CLEANED HIS ROOM! I gathered a selection of screwdrivers and looked like I knew what I was doing...

tad ah

I put together two, I did eventually get a bit of help from my son and a lesson from farmer J on using appropriate screwdrivers and tools. Now I knew there were two types of screwdrivers but then if you look at the screw it may have lines on its head, this is for using a Philips screwdriver which has arrows on the tip bit. something I have learnt today but then as I'm more interested in girly things I'm sure I could of used a knife. Hopefully it will be raining on Friday when I can continue moving into `my space room'.

  1. Poor Franklin hope he is better soon.
The shelves look good - hope they are strong enough to hold all your wool supplies! I'm off to check out my screws!

  2. Thank you Anita for your concern, iv'e got a spring basck in my paws, a wet nose and a waggy tail. I don't think it was my kidneys. It may be a rotten tooth where I had my abcess but I will grin and bear it till it flares up again as I don't think I like the sound of having it removed. I am back eating og crockets but would much rather just the liver and heart Iv'e been fed. I won't send you a kiss yet as my breaths a bit smelly still !
    Love Franklin

Can`t believe how much wool and material i have collected may need more storage!!!!!!!!!!
    I had a lesson on spirit levels - very interesting. A x

Happy cattle

For five months the cattle have been eating hay twice a day but today was their time to go back to pasture, they were more than ready. With two loads in the trailer going to La Contie the rest, the naughty but nice ones stayed at La Singlarie. Calves are on green grass for the first time following the herds around. Now for Spring time jobs to get started - so much free time for farmer J. Fencing, tidying around the farm, getting machines ready for hay cutting, getting the gites gardens ready for Summer and a new bathroom to fit, his feet won't be touching the ground.

Parisot lake

As it is a holiday today here in France (Bastille Day) we took the afternoon off an popped over to Parisot lake for a walk with Sorrel. It has all changed, since the lake was emptied and cleaned up this year you can now swim in it, as well as inflatable toys to play on, a life guard, bikes to hire, a new fenced in play area for small people and a total spruce up. But there is a price we were charged! 3 euros an adult, which I guess is OK if you are using the facilities but Sorrel didn't fancy a dip. The cafe is still open but that would of been too much for Sorrel to cope with being so close to people and music so we opted for a bench to sit on in the shade before walking around the lake. Sorrel opted for being Billy no mates and laying by herself, if be it for a short period of time before bikes and people went by. We are now waiting for the free firework celebrations over the chateau tonight - if we can stay up that late.😃
