Thanks to farmer J (my banging in was a bit girly) posts are ready for the tomatoes (bit chilly still) with a structure is up for the runner beans, the second time I have planted them since being here, the first being given a hand full by our Irish builder in our first year here, only hope I can keep up with watering and caring for them. My first row of french beans are coming up with spinach around a centimetre tall. Potatoes are emerging along with red onions and shallots. The broad beans I planted back in October won't be long now and for the first time ever garlic is still looking healthy. in the past bulbs have been eaten by mice though this year those cute furry rodents have managed to eat all but one pea I planted, so I've started again putting in a row and for back up two lengths of drain pipe have been filled with compost and peas which have been paced on top of the silage wall in the hope that the mice don't like heights. If they do then they will dinning well tonight!
Leeks have had their tops and bottoms trimmed before being placed in holes, I brought 50 in a bunch which turned out to be 118 if they all survive.Weeding around the compost area, in between the soft fruit bushes and along the edges the path is beginning to become tidy and hopefully crops will be coming up soon.
Work will be in the poly tunnel tomorrow, potting up the brassicas should it be raining.
