While farmer J spent the weekend in the UK master C came back home to help out. We had a great weekend, a rare treat of mother and son time alone. He has grown into a fine young man eager to help including washing up. We spent time chatting and listening to each other. Time in Villefranche at the recycle shops, drinking coffee and shopping.
Sunday morning we popped up to the first knife fair at Najac, although small it was interesting to see how knifes are made. A little pricey these were works of art by artisans. Most Aveyronaise locals have a hand made knife, Laguiole being the main town where they are made. Used for cutting meat, mushroom foraging and around the farm farmer J has his close to him at all times, I forget to put mine in my pocket most of the time.
Our friend Laurence was making the local cake speciality gateau a la broche which she sells at local markets. Made of a batter it is slowly cooked over a fire as it turns usually a cone shape this one was destined for dessert with the meal that was served at lunchtime.
Afternoon was spent chilling out for some and now we are reaching the cooler months spinning for others. We went to the local cinema for the evening showing of Blue Jasmine in version original. I really enjoyed it, Master C commented that he wasn't going to get married.
